How many grams of fluoride does a 6 ounce tube of 0.25% sodium fluoride toothpaste contains?

Math is important: The definition of 0.25% means 0.25 grams per 100 mL. This definition of % is the same math for other products, so is important to remember. One ounce is 30 mL, so a 6 oz tube is 180 mL... which means there are 0.45 grams in the tube (180/100 x 0.25 = 0.45). The Fluoride amount is 0.20 g, because the rest is Sodium (0.45 / 2.2 = 0.20). That means 200 mg F in the tube, more or less.

Don't worry: Enough to help you without harming you. If there was a problem the FDA would remove the product from the market.
