Pregnancy risk: Hi, There is always some risk for pregnancy. There has to be ovulation in order for pregnancy and in women with normal periods, ovulation can occur anywhere between 12 to 21 days after the first day of your period. Birth control pills are synthetic hormones that suppress ovulation but even when taken on schedule, are not able to completely guarentee prevention of pregnancy. Hope this helps
