One per day: Birth control pills are designed to be taken once per day. If you miss one pill then you take two the next day according to the package insert directions for use. If you do not take them as directed or stop taking the birth control then you are not protected. If you are not satisfied with birth control pills consider an IUD or implant which are easier to comply with
