Ear popping: May be normal or abnormal. Could represent mild ET dysfunction. See ENT if persists for ear examination and nasopharyngeal endoscopy. DC smoking, alcohol intake, avoid dust and airway irritants. If you have allergic rhinitis, could try zyrtec. Flonase has helped about 15% with these symptoms.

Why bother: The feature is simple evidence that the tube between your middle ear and throat is open enough for air to move into it (the pop). It is a natural/normal reflex when you yawn or swallow, which straightens the tube. It may signal some tube swelling from allergies/cold but this is minor.
