Why would gastritis or reflux or ibs cause noticeable abdominal bloating? why do these conditions cause the abdomen to visibly get distended?

Yes they can: All three conditions can cause abdominal bloating by two primary mechanisms. They can cause bloating by edema or swelling of the bowel wall, and by gaseous distention of the bowel due to bacterial breakdown of the food inside of the bowel. Hope the helps!
