A member asked:

I would like to know how safe is it to breastfeed with a higher cd4 counts and undetectable viral load?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The basics: The CDC & WHO do not recommend breastfeeding in any HIV patient unless you are living in the 3rd world where clean water supplies/formula are not available. Transmission of HIV through breast milk remains a worrisome issue and even small risk is considered too much.
