Basics: The defining test for meningitis is a lumbar puncture that draws off spinal fluid. This is sent to the lab where it is analysed. It is not a comfortable procedure at any age & seldom done unless you have clinical signs (not just a headache) on a physical exam. Go get examined if this is your focus.
