A few weeks: Although severe pain should clear up in a few days, it can take several weeks for complete healing and for all pain to be gone. Presumably this was professionally diagnosed, right? Check back with your doctor or clinic if you remain concerned.

Treatement: RICE. The RICE protocol is effective for most sports-related injuries. RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.

Be checked: You might consider being checked to be sure it is a simple hamstring injury. A person with a hamstring injury should still be able to “push off toes”. If you have weakness in your ability to raise yourself up using your calf muscle, you “hamstring injury” might actually be a herniated disc in the back with subsequent radiculopathy.
