Can easily last wks: A calf strain - even mild - can last for 1-3 weeks. The calf is used all the time throughout a typical day so it's hard to truly rest it and allow it to heal. Rest from aggravating activity as much as you can, use ice and NSAIDs as needed for relief, and do gentle stretching daily to maintain/regain flexibility. Good supportive shoes will give additional relief for the lower leg.
