Why what?: Metoprolol is a beta blocker designed to target conduction in the heart and not affect other beta receptors. For heart rate the smallest effective dose is used. You don't mention your HR even though that's why you take it nor whether you take Extended release (24 hours) or regular formulation (12 hours). Either way 12.5 mg is a very small dose and its effect on blood pressure would be negligible.
