A member asked:

A throbbing headache with intense pain is keeping me out of sleep, can't go to a doctor this week, what can i do to ease the pains? i have applied a hot bean bag to where my neck and skull come together hoping it'll help the pain subside a bit

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Severe headache: If this headache is way out of the ordinary in intensity, you should be seen in the hospital emergency room asap. Appropriate testing will be done promptly. For ordinary, usual type nonserious headache, taking acetaminophen is advisable. ibuprofen ok. Relaxation is helpful. I advise against aspirin or ibuprofen, naproxen in unusually severe headache in case intracranial bleeding is a possibility
