Many ways: One of the simplest ways to lower stress and over-arousal is through slow, gentle, breathing exercises. Breathe in through nose 4 counts, so that your belly expands; hold breath for 7 counts; then breathe out through your mouth 8 counts, with a "whoosh" sound. Repeat 4 times. This can re-set things for you. Also, practicing mindfulness meditation, yoga, or tai chi can help over time.
