Yes: If your thyroid has been underactive weight gain can occur. Correcting the hypothyroidism by prescribing the proper dose of eltroxin can help you lose weight. Of course, calories count and exercise also contributes to weight loss. To lose 1 pound in a week you have to reduce your calorie intake by 500 each day.
