Internal Medicine 63 years experience
Daily steps: If you are physically fit, 10000 steps a day is a good goal. That equates to almost 5 miles but it depends upon your height and stride. A 6 foot tall person may take 2095 steps in a mile. Someone 5'6" may take 2286 steps in a mile.
