About 10,000: Studies have suggested that about 10,000 steps a day is good for weight control. Staying active also helps prevent and control diabetes & heart disease & nurtures mental health. Good nutrition which consists primarily of fish, chicken, veggies & fruit is also important for good overall health. Avoidance of smoking, too much alcohol & illicit drugs is also important. Agree with Dr. M: Exercise, any exercise is good for you. Do as many steps as you can. Do not give up just because you do make 10,000 steps. Any steps would be better than no steps. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/.
