Persistent rib pain : One xray taken shortly after a rib injury can miss a fracture of the rib. It is often the case that a xray taken days later can then reveal a fracture. It often the case that even if there is no fracture rib injuries are not seen on xrays . Ribs are surrounded by muscles, they are sometimes injured or strained during the injury. Muscles often take some time to heal.
