Warm Compresses: If there is increasing pain, spreading redness, or continual drainage get help. The surgeons have a saying "the only cure for an abscess is drainage" meaning if it has thoroughly drained then it will heal without antibiotics. Use very warm WET compresses pressed against the area for 10 minutes 4x/day. It helps draw out the pus or brings things to surface where it can open and drain - has to be WET
