A member asked:

I removed a wound scab too early and now i have a little hole on the skin, sort of pink colour and a bit painful and red area around the wound, no blood. small wound, about 1 cm diameter. what to do to heal it fast? cover or not cover the wound?

You do not have to cover it, however you could put an ointment to moisturize the surface and help healing without scabbing. If you could get an over the counter antibiotic ointment but it does not have to be with antibiotics, just something to keep moisture without infection and allow healing without the scab.

It will heal faster if you cover it. Keep clean with soap and water and change the bandaid daily. I hope you learned the lesson: don't remove scabs, leave them alone, let them fall off when they are ready.

Single most important recommendation: Keep your hands away from the wound. If kept clean it will heal no matter covered or not covered. Covered offers some more protection for the wound and may help you remember to Keep Your Hands Away from the wound. Best wishes.
