A doctor has provided 1 answer

Common issue: The oral cavity is the grand entrance to the body where most germs first encounter tissues where they can invade/infect. These are carried there by fingers or during feeds. such sores are usually simple viruses that may start there & progress through the digestive tract or enter the blood to cause fever or other symptoms. If it interferes with fluid intake it can be a problem. Most self heal.
