My 2 and a half year old son developed a wheeze through the night, how can i treat it?

You have it checked: Treatment without a valid diagnosis at that age is impossible. Some such issues have no treatment beyond supportive care. Some require injections or special equipment.

Obtain an audio recording of the sound for your physician. Very often the described sound by parents doesn't correlate with physician diagnosed wheezing. If your son has developed a new onset of wheezing, note any potential triggers, including smoke exposure, allergens-pollen,dust. Note pattern of wheezing, time of day, with infectious symptoms, watch for rapid breathing, fever and distress.
