A member asked:

I seem to have a lot of the symptoms of pcos- where do i begin to get a proper diagnosis and help? do i go to a gp or straight to a gynecologist?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PCOS: A gyn physician should be able to diagnose PCOS and suggest treatment. PCOS is characterized by decreased or absent periods, and can cause problems related to constant estrogen production with lack of ovulation. An ultrasound will confirm the diagnosis, but consider oral bcp's if pregnancy is not desired immediately, or ovulation induction if pregnancy is wanted.
