A member asked:

If you get referred to a gynecologist for pcos at age 17 could you deny to having a pelvic exam if you do not want to?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: No one can force you to have pelvic exam done against your will. If you've never had sex, it may be of limited value anyway. If you've been sexually active, it will help rule out infections, cervical abnormalities on pap smear, etc.
