Can meloxicam be taken as a preventive measure? i only get pain when i exercise. my doctor just gave me a cortisone shot and said take meloxicam.

NSAIDs: NSAIDs can be taken preventatively before certain physical activities to prevent pain from arthritis. I believe that Meloxicam is only obtained by prescription and is more potent than ibuprofen or Aleve so it should be used under a physicians supervision.

No: This medication to be taken as the lowest dose and shortest duration to relieve the pain. Not for use as to prevent the pain.
