Yes: Pain is always a sign that something is amiss. The description is not specific to a single cause. One must consider what travels in and through that area. There are muscles,bone, blood vessels, a connection through the groin to an area where hernias can occur. With no history of trauma or bruising I would want to examine the site & possibly do an ultrasound to search for a cause.
