Not normal! See doc!: You don't say why you are taking the acyclovir, I assume it is for genital herpes. Your urinary tract symptoms are not a typical side effect of acyclovir. Your outbreak may be more severe than normal and this may be causing swelling of the tissues around the urinary tract. Since your symptoms are worsening, icontact your doc PDQ pretty darn quick!

Contact your doctor: What you’re mentioning may be a sign of crystals forming in the urine, so it’s important to let the person who prescribed it know because s/he may choose a different drug / dose for you. Getting in touch with your doctor is important: if you just stop taking this kind of drug before you have finished it, the disease may continue, and if crystals are present, they may hurt your kidneys.
