"Period" age 50 ?: Although it is possible to ovulate past 50, most bleeding at this age, after 2 years is due to degeneration of the lining of the uterus, which has been stimulated by increased levels of estrogen, and simply outgrows its blood supply too fast. See your gyn provider for an ultrasound, which can show if the lining of the uterus is thickened, and may require a biopsy.
