Taste buds: Taste buds can become enlarged from irritation from hot or spicey foods, chemicals or viral infections. Simply bathe your tongue in warm salt water. Take an antihistamine to reduce itchiness. If your sense of taste is still intact and the rest of your tongue isn't swollen, your taste buds should return to normal.

Large tastebuds: May be allergies especially since your throat is itchy. or may be post nasal drip or infection less likely since no pain or rarely food intolerances ( should notice something with foods. ). Consider zyrtec ( if not allergic) follow up with doc

Where ?: Along the back of your tongue there are vallate papillae which form an inverted V shape that crosses the base of the tongue. They are noticeably larger than the rest of the tongue structures. If this is something you just noticed they are normal & deserve no concern.
