Varies: Methadone is commonly used up to 100mg/day, however should be rarely used in non terminal chronic pain, in my opinion, because of tolerance. Best attempt to diagnose and resolve the source of your pain.

Methadone dose: Firstly in the US the climate has changed - CDC states not to exceed 90MME - this usually translates to about 20mg Methadone/day. At 60mg you are way above the 90MME. Suggest you wean and look at other options for the pain. Most doctors will not prescribe greater than 90MME for fear of sanction and possible arrest and loss of license.
