Yes and No: It can be common to have residual or even chronic pain after multiple surgeries and the pain medications are given for pain relief. This being said, the idea behind pain relief and opiate pain medications are changing drastically now and new advice being recommended includes weaning down on your pain medications and use of pain interventions to help treat your pain rather than mask it.
