A member asked:

My pm doctor wants to switch me from methadone to nucynta (tapentadol) for fibromyalgia pain relief. i'm also taking cymbalta. i don't feel like nucynta (tapentadol) will work ?

Research suggests: That use of narcotics in fibromyalgia may be a bad choice in the end and drugs such as Cymbalta, Savella, (milnacipran) and Lyrica offer better longterm success. Yet, the Methadone needs to be handled, and a better switch at this stage would involve suboxone. I agree with you, going to Nucynta may not be a wise decision. Try to see a pain specialist.
