Contusion of muscle: It sounds like the trauma struck the temporalis muscle. This muscle is one of the muscles that helps the jaw open and close. From your description, it sounds like the trauma produced bleeding within the muscle and now you have a contusion or bruising of the muscle. You might develop headaches and difficulty chewing. Warm moist soaks to the temple region can help to dissolve the internal bruise
