LPR: LPR is somewhat common but I haven't seen a case with such severe symptoms. Unlike GERD, LPR may not respond to medications like omeprazole or ranitidine.Nevertheless it's worth trying them. An Otolaryngologist with a special interest in LPR should be consulted.
