Mysterious issue: Try my granny's home remedy. Pour boiling water in a bucket & either eucalyptus oil or Vick's vaporub in the hot water so that it can diffuse the whole room. Apply some on the chest wall.

Some basics: Newborns face several transition issues. The need to set the rate/depth of breathing & match it with exertion (sleep/feeds/play) which often leads to odd breathing patterns (fast/slow) for a few wks. Their nasal passages are tiny, so they plug easily with dust, fragrance, smoke at levels that don't bother adults. Single lung issues are rare (birth defect) but require evaluation by a pulmonary doc.
