A member asked:

I have just had my wisdom tooth removed and i have a slight cold. i have some phlegm in my throat.will i get dry socket if im slightly sucking it up?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dry socket: Dry socket occurs when the clot in an extraction site washes out and the bone in the site becomes exposed to bacteria-containing oral fluids. The less you suck, the less chance of premature clot loss. Call your treating Oral Surgeon to discuss post-surgical care.
