Some basics: Your tear film has some anti-bacterial qualities which suppress infection. If a significant germ was within the spit, it might overcome those defenses & trigger an infection. Such an infection would trigger redness, drainage and itching or pain within 24-72 hrs. Flesh eating disease is a dramatic issue that takes place between layers of skin, usually on the extremities. Such an exposure would not.
