Its the lung area: Upper left back pain is the area that covers the lungs. if this pain persists or is getting worse you should see a doctor for further examinations of this area which may include a chest X-ray to start with. There are also many bones in this location(Ribs, shoulder blade and the spine), each one of which can produce upper back pain. We can check the bones with a bone scan, if needed.
