Lots of causes: It is important that the physician who diagnosed your DVT and PE evaluate you completely to determine the cause or potential risk factors. Then those causes or potential risk factors need to be addressed. A past history of DVT/PE does not affect your period but the medications used to treat them can. This also means you are no longer a candidate for estrogen containing birth control methods
