Increased risk: You definitely are at increased risk for development of a blood clot with use of any type of hormonal therapy for an irregular period. I would suggest a consultation with a hematologist that specializes in clotting disorders to outline your exact risk based on what gene you carry and other life factors (for instance, do you ever smoke?). Not lots of alternatives other than hormonal therapy.
