Why shouldn't pregnant women stretch out and hold heavy objects?

Premature labor: depending on how far pregnant you are, holding heavy objects may increase your risk of premature labor especially if you already have existing risks for preterm labor.

No real reason: But much safer in general if pregnant women restrain from any activity that could potentially harm the pregnancy. Get your husband/boyfriend or otherwise to do the heavy lifting until delivery.
