Painless stones: If you have a stone in the kidney that is not moving around it should in most cases not be painful. If the stone were to move into the ureter, it would then become severely painful. You do not say which side the stones are on, so it is not possible to know if the right side pain is from stones. It would also require a clearer characterization of the pain to give a better answer about its cause.
