A few days: An aborted oral herpes outbreak (cold sore, fever blister) may cause tingling or maybe a red bump that doesn't progress to the blister stage or open sore. In this case, the tingling generally will clear up within 2-3 days. If it lasts longer, without a visible outbreak, then herpes probably isn't the cause.
