A member asked:

Would a 6 month 4th gen hiv test if conclusive be regarded as definitive? exposure was mutual oral sex with a woman. can i move on?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No worries: A person just needs routine screening, such as an annual screening for HIV (and gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc...) if having new sex partners. He can do extra testing if he is exposed to an HIV-infected person. It is impossible for him to catch HIV from a non-infected person, and the vast majority of Americans are non-infected. Also, non-bloody oral sex transmits some STD's but not HIV infections.
