A member asked:

Does eating oranges while pregnant causes the baby to have jaundice?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: No, there is nothing that you eat during pregnancy that can cause jaundice. Jaundice is yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, and is caused by an excess of the pigment bilirubin. This is sometimes caused by obstruction of the bile duct, by liver disease, or in babies usually because of excessive breakdown of red blood cells. It has nothing to do with what you eat.
