A single sore on my scrotum about 14 days after recieving oral from someone pos for hsv1. i have had igg tests neg for both hsv1 an 2 at 1,2 and 3 mos and at 4 mos an indeterminate western blot for hsv1. now confused can you please shed light on this?

Not herpes: First, HSV infections almost always start at the exact site where the virus enters, i.e. sites of friction during sex -- in this case, your penis. A single sore of the scrotum is unlikely due to HSV. (OTOH, you refer to "genital sores" plural??? Most important, your IgG tests show for sure you do not have a newly acquired HSV infection, either HSV1 or 2. Discuss w/ your doc if symptoms continue.

Follow up ?.. if 1/3 of people never show positive for hsv1 antibodies on igg blood test, how is the western blot more accurate at 12 weeks because that looks at antibodies too? I was negative on western blot at 12 weeks but nervous I still have it?
