I have recently found out i am pregnant, we would approximate about 6 weeks. when should i book an appointment with a gynecologist? should i go to a gp first for general check up and then the ob/gyn at a later stage or what would you advise?

About 8-10 weeks: Most OB's will recommend that your first visit with them be between 8-10 weeks pregnant. Unless you have any significant medical problems, there probably isn't a lot of utility in seeing a GP first - your OB will probably be able to handle most things. Make sure you are taking a prenatal vitamin, eat healthy, don't smoke, and don't drink alcohol. Congratulations!
