A member asked:

My daughter 18 months old has been vomiting for the last 24h, docter said its upper respitory infection. can it really makes you vomit so much?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Viral syndromes: Viruses that cause upper respiratory symptoms do so by infecting mucus membranes, these exist in the nose throat and upper airway as well as in the stomach and GI tract. Many viruses that cause colds also cause gastritis and vomiting. Also, when you have a viral cold the mucus running down the back of the throat can cause you to gag or just irritate the stomach.
