All sensations are: interpreted within one's brain/mind (NOT body) based on remembered associations from previous experiences. Thus can people be fooled? Absolutely. Can people replay past sensations from their mind as if they were recurring at present? Absolutely, despite many not recognizing this reality. Replays occur in dreams, Déjà vu, occasionally hypnosis that demonstrate this reality many don't recognize.
