Our 27 mo old takes 2ml zyrtec at night. he has a very bad cough that has him choking. can he have bromfed tonight, 3 hrs after taking zyrtec?

Cough: The zyrtec will dry airway more leading to more coughing. Same for all antihistamines. Probably should go to ER and have child examined.

I wouldn't: Many studies in the US have shown that most of these combination cough preparations have no value in kids under 6 if ever. We haven't recommended them for more than a decade. A little honey in lemon juice at bedtime works as well as anything. Cough is a protective mechanism that brings up mucus & irritants from deep in the lung. Removing aggravating fumes/dust/ fragrances can also help.
