1.i have a scratchy throat.. 2. constantly clearing phlegm 3. at night if i cough hard i cannot breathe.. i have to take small breathes through my nose.. if i try to breathe hard i sound like i am choking.. any idea what's going on with me?

Chronic cough: Chronic cough and scratchy throat with scant phlegm may be related to an allergic reaction. Avoid dust, mold, smoke, pet dander and cover mattress and pillow with a dust cover.
If the cough is acute, it is most likely a viral infection and will improve within two weeks. Soothing lozenges and a cough syrup at night may relieve symptoms.
