You decide: This is quite common in kids in even minor viral illnesses. If the kid is able to keep up with fluid needs (makes pee every 6-8 hrs) and plays some this can probably be monitored at home. If s/he isn't drinking well & looks bad, take them in to be evaluated. If the whole thing spooks you go in.
